Meet Meag

Hello! I’m Meag.  Thank you for allowing me to share my life with you!  I am the proud wife of my firefighter, Sean. I am also the proud mother of our handsome, kind, analytical, fun-loving son, Jack; and of our beautiful, sassy, free-spirited daughter, Lucy.
Sean and I met our junior year of high school.  We remained friends for many years before deciding we didn’t want to go through life without each other. We were married in 2006 and will be celebrating our ten year anniversary in September.  Our family loves spending time together.  We love taking camping trips to the nearby mountains, visiting my family in Montana and occasionally, we’ll hop on a plane and jet across the country.  Jack is heavily involved in Tae-Kwon-Do, basketball and baseball and Lucy just started dance this year. Sean is a full-time firefighter who also moonlights as a Fire Science and EMT Instructor for a nearby community college.  He also manages an internship program for his fire department.  I am the Director of Sales for an assisted living and stay busy marketing to local doctors and hospitals to drive business to my community.  Our time together is often hectic and fleeting, but we try to make the most of it.
Sean has been working full time for the fire department since 2007 and it seems like life has gotten increasingly busy since then. I often work over 40 hours every week and attempting to manage everyone’s schedule is overwhelming and crazy.  Thankfully, Sean and I have each other and a village of people who help us tag-team our way through.
The fire life is a good life.  It’s sometimes a lonely life when Sean is on shift. It’s sometimes a sad life when he comes home from a hard shift; but in general I feel very blessed and happy to be living it.  I want this blog to enlighten people about how good I have it, but also to clue you in about the struggles and stress of being a fire wife.  It’s not a life for everyone.  Like Sean always says, “You can’t do this job if all you want is a cool t-shirt.” Speaking of that, someone make me a t-shirt.
